Create advertisements
Build ads with the Basic Creator or Advanced Studio, manage revisions, and connect designs to campaigns.
1. Which editor to use
AdServeKit provides two distinct design tools for creating Creatives:
The Basic Creator: Uses smart templates where one master design automatically derives layouts across 14 standard IAB and mobile sizes. It takes 2–5 minutes and is the right choice for standard announcements, promotions, and mobile-first ads.
The Advanced Studio: A layered design canvas with vector shapes, 63 self-hosted font families, timeline keyframe motion, automated background removal, and video export. Use it when you need bespoke brand compositions or animated rich media.
Both editors produce standard AdServeKit creatives, execute inside sandboxed iframes, and attach to campaigns identically.
2. Designing with the Basic Creator
1. Navigate to Creatives in your sidebar and click New creative → Basic Creator.
2. Choose from 48 templates across 6 categories (General Promotion, Education, Sports, Editorial, Format-Specific, Multi-Scene Stories) or start clean.
3. Complete your content: Enter a headline, supporting copy, CTA button label, and destination click URL (https://...).
4. Upload an image or logo, or select a background color palette.
5. Select your target ad sizes (e.g. 300x250, 728x90, 160x600, 320x50). The layout preview adapts dynamically across every selected size without manual resizing.
6. Click Save as Draft.
3. Designing with the Advanced Studio
1. Open Creatives → New creative → Advanced Studio and select your base canvas dimension (e.g. 300x250).
2. Use the top toolbar to insert text layers, vector shapes (rectangles, ellipses, divider lines), buttons, and media assets.
3. Use Remove Background on image layers to isolate products. Remove Background automatically detects the main subject and removes the surrounding background.
4. Open the Timeline panel to add property keyframes (opacity, transform, position) for smooth entrance and loop animations.
5. Use the Size Switcher to add additional dimensions (e.g. 728x90) and customize layer placement per format.
6. Preview your creative through the real delivery renderer to verify exact on-page appearance.
4. Drafts and published revisions
Every creative maintains a Draft and a Published live revision:
- Draft State: Edits are saved automatically to the draft. Drafts are completely invisible to live ad placements.
- Published State: Clicking Publish Revision promotes your draft to the live revision. Running campaigns immediately begin serving this version.
- Safe Iteration: You can safely edit an actively serving creative in draft mode without risking half-finished designs reaching live websites. Changes only deploy when you click Publish Revision.
All previous published revisions are preserved in the History tab and can be restored at any time.
5. Troubleshooting creative delivery
Creative not appearing on website: Confirm that the creative status is Published, not Draft, that it is attached to an active campaign, and that it has a published revision matching the placement dimensions.
Archiving creatives: Draft creatives can be archived directly from Creatives → Archive. To archive a published creative, pause it first.
Background removal: Remove Background automatically processes your image to preserve privacy. If processing takes longer than expected, ensure the image is under the maximum supported file size.
