Create a campaign and attach creatives

Set targeting, budget caps and schedules, then attach and rotate advertisements.

1. What a campaign controls

In AdServeKit, a Creative is the visual advertisement (headline, imagery, button, destination URL). A Campaign is the operational rulebook that decides when, where, to whom, and how frequently that creative is delivered.

A campaign manages flight dates, timezone-aware dayparting schedules, country and device targeting, financial budget limits, frequency capping, and creative rotation weights.

A campaign with no creatives attached serves nothing. Attaching published creatives is a deliberate step after creating them.

2. Create the campaign and configure targeting

Open Campaigns in your sidebar and click New campaign.

Enter a descriptive Campaign Name (e.g. Q4 Growth Promo — US Mobile) and set Start and End dates. Check 'No end date' if the campaign should run continuously until its budget is exhausted.

Configure targeting rules:

- Device Targeting: Check eligible devices (Desktop, Mobile, Tablet, Connected TV).

- Country Targeting: Choose Include or Exclude mode and select specific countries.

- Dayparting Schedule: Define active days of the week and operating hours (e.g. Mon–Fri 09:00–18:00). Schedules are evaluated in the campaign's configured timezone, not the visitor's local time.

Set Priority and Weight. If multiple campaigns target the same placement, higher-priority campaigns deliver first. If priorities are equal, impressions are distributed proportionally by weight.

3. Configure financial budgets and delivery caps

AdServeKit includes automated budget pacing to prevent accidental over-delivery:

In the campaign editor, expand Budget & Billing and toggle Enable budget tracking.

Select your Billing Model:

- CPM: Charged per 1,000 rendered ad impressions.

- CPC: Charged per validated ad click.

- None: Unbilled delivery (used for internal house ads or flat-fee sponsorships).

Set your spend limits:

- Total Campaign Budget: The maximum lifetime spend. Once reached, delivery halts permanently.

- Daily Budget Cap: Maximum spend allowed per calendar day. When reached, delivery pauses until midnight in the campaign timezone.

Toggle 'Stop delivery when budget is exhausted' to enforce automatic cutoffs.

4. Set frequency capping per visitor

Frequency capping prevents ad fatigue by limiting how many times a single visitor sees your campaign.

Under Frequency Capping, enter Maximum Impressions (e.g. 3) and Time Window in hours (e.g. 24).

Under this setting, an individual visitor sees this campaign at most 3 times in any 24-hour period. Once capped, the ad server automatically selects the next eligible campaign or fallback ad.

5. Attach creatives and set rotation weights

Open the Creatives tab inside your campaign editor.

Select one or more published creatives from your workspace library.

For each creative, assign a Rotation Weight (default is 100). Equal weights (100 and 100) split delivery 50/50. Unequal weights (70 and 30) deliver Creative A 70% of the time and Creative B 30% of the time.

Important Size Matching Rule: A creative is only eligible for a placement that supports its exact dimensions. If your placement is 300x250, ensure your attached creative has a published 300x250 revision.

A campaign will not serve a creative that is still in Draft state. Always confirm that your creative has been Published before expecting delivery.

6. Activate delivery and monitor results

Change campaign status from Draft to Active and click Save Changes.

For internal house ads, attach target placements under the Placements tab.

For marketplace direct deals, generate a Campaign Connection code under Publishers and share it with your publisher partner.

Monitor live delivery under Analytics → Delivery (requests, impressions, viewability, clicks, and CTR).
