Campaign connections: collaborating with external publishers
Connect advertiser campaigns to publisher placements via secure connection codes.
1. What is a Campaign Connection?
A Campaign Connection is a direct commercial relationship between an Advertiser's campaign and an external Publisher's ad placement.
What it does: Enables direct-deal ad delivery through a publisher's website without transferring resource ownership or exposing private workspace data.
Why use it: Advertisers retain full ownership of their campaign schedules, creatives, and budgets, while publishers retain ownership of their website and placements. Neither party sees the other's private workspace or login details.
Who needs it: Any publisher and advertiser who have agreed to run direct advertising together, whether arranged privately or discovered through the Marketplace.
What must already be configured: The advertiser must have an active campaign with published creatives, and the publisher must have a verified website and compatible placement.
2. Advertiser: Generating connection codes
1. Build and publish your campaign and creatives in your dashboard.
2. Open your campaign and navigate to the Publishers / Connections tab.
3. Click Generate Connection Code. The platform creates an encrypted single-use token (e.g. CMP-7R4K-9X2P-6M3D-8T5W).
4. Configure Conversion Sharing: Choose whether the publisher can see None, Aggregated Counts, or Aggregated Counts & Values in their delivery report.
5. Share the token with the publisher in Marketplace Messages.
3. Publisher: Inspecting and accepting connections
1. Open Campaigns → Connected campaigns → Connect.
2. Paste the connection code and click Inspect. A preview modal discloses the advertiser name, campaign schedule, supported dimensions, and creative previews.
3. Select your target verified website and compatible placement.
4. Click Accept Connection. Delivery begins automatically according to the campaign schedule.
4. Dual-key pause and revocation controls
Both parties retain delivery control:
- The advertiser can pause, resume, or permanently revoke the connection.
- The publisher can pause their own placement delivery at any time.
- An advertiser cannot unpause a publisher pause, and a publisher cannot unpause an advertiser pause.
